Best Instant Noodles

Instant noodle is one of the most popular food not only in China, but everywhere in Asia. It is said to be invented by Japanese, in that people always work very late and very hard and they don’t have much time for cooking, so instant noodle industry began to boom, just like the emergence of sandwiches in North America. I searched for the history of instant noodles, but didn’t find anything that are reliable, so whether it comes from Japan still remains a mystery to me.

Instant noodle, sandwich and some other junk food as well, are the best food for the laziest and busiest people, since these people don’t want to spend much time or money on food. Actually, I remember it is often described as instant noodles brought from China are also preferred by those who study abroad in the States in 80s. Anyways, this kind of junk food is not possible to diminish in the near future.

The first time I had instant noodle, in my memory, is when I was 10 years old after a short trip back to Hebei from Beijing. And I can also remember clearly the only instant noodles at that time is called “七宝一丁”, a very funny name. As time goes by, more brands start their challenges with each other in this huge instant noodle market.

The popularity of instant noodle, when I was in elementary school, in fact, is not only because of its taste, but also the collection of all kinds of cards inside, on which drawn such as figures in 水浒传 or 圣斗士星矢, when the most popular brand at that time is “小浣熊干脆面”.

Several years afterwards, as I went to junior high school where I spent my 3 toughest years, instant noodle becomes the only choice for weekday breakfast. Now I just can’t imagine how I could bear the same kind of food for 3 years.

When I was enrolled in Yangpu Senior High School in Shanghai, I seldom had instant noodles for breakfast, for the simple reason that the cafeteria there could offer very delicious food, such as 烧麦, 菜包肉包 and 生煎, etc. During that period of time, the most popular instant noodle in high school is, I suppose, 开杯乐, favored by many friends who always pursue stuff from western world.

After high school graduation, I went to Beijing New Oriental School preparing TOEFL test. I met lots of friends there, who not only have the same dream with me, but also could chat and enjoy all kinds of instant noodles in the night. It is at that time that we got familiar with almost all instant noodles in Chinese supermarket. My favorite one is “浓香排骨面”, also preferred by qmp, who is now in University of Alberta.

Cafeteria in McGill offer good food on weekdays, but there is no food on weekends, so those who stay in rez on weekends just order food, which taste very good, but I just can’t afford it all the time. Then I thought of instant noodles.

Instant noodles sold in Canadian supermarket are so expensive and disgusting, all made in China. I can’t imagine how big the gross margin of this instant noodle is. It is so simple that it really reminds me of the first instant noodle I had.

People can buy Chinese instant noodles in Chinatown in Montreal, and I also went to check the stores in Chinatown, where the price of noodles is not expensive at all, but I didn’t buy any since I don’t like any of the taste there. For this reason, before I came back from Shanghai on Christmas, instant noodles, of course, take 2/3 of my big luggage.
Just now, I made the best taste instant noodle I ever had, which is named “统一100红烧肉面”.
GO TRY IT!
